Tourism North East (TNE) is the peak regional tourism organisation for Victoria’s High Country, charged with driving the strategic growth of the region’s $2.3B+ visitor economy.
TNE is an independent non-profit organisation, formed through a partnership between local councils, Alpine Resorts Victoria, the Victorian State Government and the High Country’s tourism industry.
The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors that has responsibility for developing the long-term and overarching strategic vision and direction for the High Country region, ensuring a platform for future tourism growth. An independent Chair leads the Board, which consists of skills-based directors, local government CEO’s and alpine resort management COOs and a representative from the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions within the Victorian Government.
TNE is currently seeking an experienced Chairperson to manage the TNE Board, supporting strong leadership, strategic development and growth within a sound governance framework. Overseeing a large and high-performing board, the successful candidate will have a proven track record in efficiently and competently chairing meetings, and be able to effectively balance strategic insight with emotional intelligence. The Chair acts and speaks on behalf of the Board with external stakeholders, and is the key liaison between the CEO and directors, so must have sound relationship management skills. Expertise in government, tourism and destination development are also seen as particularly relevant.
