NEW DIGI PASSPORT A HIT WITH 7 PEAKERS
The new Ride High Country - 7 Peaks app launched in November has been warmly welcomed by road cyclists. Between the opening of the 7 Peaks season on 27 October and the first week in December, more than 1500 riders had registered for the new digital passport with nearly 2500 rides already recorded.
The new App was developed in response to an extensive survey of 7 Peaks participants at the close of the 2016/17 season. The survey reviewed past campaigns and explored ways of improving processes.
As a result, after 10 years, the paper passport is being phased out and the new digital passport in the form of the Ride High Country - 7 Peaks App launched for season 2017/18.
The new App integrates with Strava, which the majority of those surveyed requested. Riders with an active Strava account and a bike computer or a smartphone can track rides, upload their rides to Strava where they are matched to the 7 Peaks Strava segments. When a ride is matched to 7 Peaks Strava segments athletes now automatically receive a stamp in their digital passport.
Developed by the TNE digital team, the new 7 Peaks App has the ability to track when, where and how often athletes are riding the 7 Peaks, providing great new insights into the region’s cycle tourists. TNE encourages anyone cycling the peaks, even those living here, to download the app (from the Google and Apple App Stores) as every peak ridden automatically generates one entry for a trip to next year's Tour de France.
The 7 Peaks program is just one of the many TNE initiatives aimed at driving greater numbers of cyclists to the High Country, supporting the region’s vision of being the lead cycle tourism destination in the State.
