Tourism North East announced today the appointment of Ross Passalaqua to the role of Chairman of its Board.

Welcoming Mr Passalaqua, Amber Gardner, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism North East, noted Ross’s extensive commercial and operational experience across a range of sectors including services and the tourism industry in Australia and internationally.

“We are delighted to welcome Ross to the role of Chair. He has previously served as a skills-based Director on the Tourism North East Board, so has a robust understanding of our organisation and the High Country.”

“Ross’s tourism experience and passion for the region, combined with his comprehensive executive and strategic skill set, will perfectly complement the existing strengths of the Board and ensure that TNE continues to drive positive outcomes to the local visitor economy,” Ms Gardner added.

Mr Passalaqua’s commitment to enabling access for all to the region is evidenced through his current service on the Boards of the People and Parks Foundation and Disabled Wintersport Australia. He also served on the Board of Parks Victoria from 2014 – 2017 and was the Chief Executive Officer of Falls Creek Resort Management from 2006 – 2010.

In taking up the position Mr Passalaqua said, “I have enjoyed a long affiliation with the High Country, and am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute to the region as Tourism North East Chair.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to recognise the outstanding work and contribution of Paul Carrick, who held the role for the previous eight years.”
