Ahead of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend and the opening of the Victorian ski season from 22 June, VTIC has released a set of guided steps for reopening to assist the tourism industry comply with State Government guidelines for a COVID-safe return to business.

Strict rules and guidelines relating to density, distancing and hygiene to ensure a safe experience for all staff and visitors underpin the easing of social and travel restrictions and VTIC’s Guiding Steps for Reopening are designed to assist tourism businesses develop a restart plan, focused on customer and staff safety.

In addition, the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC), in partnership with VTIC, has developed a COVID-Clean online training module.  Available to tourism businesses through the national Quality Tourism Framework platform, COVID Clean will provide core base-practices that businesses can employ to prepare to open and operate safely within the current environment.

Businesses will receive tailored cleaning checklists, a risk register, and a logo to signify their commitment to these new procedures, giving greater customer confidence.

Businesses which do not have an existing Quality Tourism Framework account will need to sign up and complete accreditation business standards to access the module. Accreditation fees are currently being waived until December 2020.
