The bushfires have had a devastating effect on the region and we are extremely thankful for the incredible efforts of volunteers, agencies and community members who have helped keep our communities safe.

Businesses have been hard hit, however, while National Parks and State forests remain closed to visitors, the vast majority of the High Country’s towns and villages have not been directly impacted by bushfires.

Within the context of the ongoing situation, TNE has provided some practical ways for industry to proactively participate in several social media campaigns to help in your recovery: https://www.tourismnortheast.com.au/bushfire-response-phase-initiatives/

TNE is working closely with Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV), Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR), Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) and Visit Victoria to help get the Region back on its feet and will be announcing the details of recovery campaign activity very soon.

Websites, ATDW listings and social media will be critical to promoting your message during this recovery campaign phase. TNE is encouraging businesses to take advantage of free of charge digital mentoring so you can maximise this recovery campaign messaging. Contact [email protected] to arrange support.

In the meantime, businesses could cautiously encourage visitors to return to the region via your social media, email and websites, acknowledging the amazing efforts of emergency services and also noting that there may be smoke and the potential for new fires remains. All communications should provide a link to the Vic Emergency – https://emergency.vic.gov.au/ and EPA Air Watch – https://www.epa.vic.gov.au/EPAAirWatch – sites.
