Amber Gardner has resigned from the position of Tourism North East CEO after four years with the
organisation, moving on to take up the CEO role at Mt Hotham Resort Management Board.
During Amber’s time with the organisation, Tourism North East has secured significant funding to
deliver major supply and demand side tourism initiatives that have been instrumental in driving
visitor economy growth across the High Country. This includes a 43% growth in visitation and 74%
increase in visitor spend over the last three financial years, delivering record tourism highs for the
region.
With Amber’s departure, Tourism North East has commenced its search to fill this role, looking for a
dynamic and experienced CEO to lead its dedicated team of tourism professionals. In this hands-on
role, the CEO is required to develop innovative and informed tourism strategies, provide insightful
thought leadership, foster collaboration across a diverse stakeholder base, and manage the
organisation in a sustainable and accountable manner.
The successful candidate will have significant prior experience in the tourism industry and an
understanding of multi-level Government contexts. They will possess strong business acumen and
negotiation skills, have the ability to analyse and solve problems, and be capable of effectively
managing a large stakeholder base. A balance of strategic insight and emotional intelligence will
ensure effectiveness in this role, complemented by a highly developed written and verbal communication
skill-set. Most importantly, the CEO must thrive on working in a challenging and fast-paced
environment.
TNE is considered the lead regional tourism organisation in Victoria, and continues to move from
strength to strength, so this is the ideal time for a proactive and passionate CEO to lead the
organisation through its next stage of growth.
